Mira Sleiati

MTA New York City Transit
Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Consultant

Mira Sleilati is an internal communications and employee engagement consultant with more than 15 years of experience working with leading organizations in the private and public sectors.

Most recently, Mira was part the Culture & Engagement team at Etsy, an online marketplace for handmade and vintage items. She worked to communicate Etsy's new HR and people-management programs and policies, in a values-aligned and transparent way, staying true to Etsy's unique voice and culture. Much of her work involved executive visibility, in an effort to communicate and connect employees to the company strategy.

Prior to that, Mira was the first Director of Communications and Engagement at the MTA New York City Transit, the largest public transportation system in North America. She was responsible for promoting awareness and engagement in NYCT’s mission and strategic initiatives. This included leading organization-wide efforts to communicate a new talent management process, and programs to position NYCT as an employer of choice in New York. She consulted across departments to understand their unique challenges and how leaders could effectively communicate with employees.

Before joining NYCT, Mira spent ten years in progressive roles at Toyota Motor North America, ranging from public affairs, thought leadership and crisis communications, to HR-focused communications around talent management, succession planning and corporate restructuring.

She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Communications and Public Policy from Syracuse University and a Master of Public Administration from New York University.
